Arielle eats baby food for the first time!!

April 2nd, 2009 -

Our little Arielle has been eye-ing us when we eat lately. She's always hungry - nursing often. Mommy is always starving - trying to keep up with the calorie out-take that baby is in-taking! We felt like it was the right time to introduce her to baby food and boy were we right! She LOVED it! She will be six months in a few days. Now - when Nathanael was introduced to food he made funny faces and acted as if he didn't understand what was happening and had a tough time keeping food in his mouth - had to give him little bits and keep scooping it back into the spoon. Not our little "lioness"!

She cried (see picture) when she thought I was "taking away" her food. I showed her quickly that I was just refilling the spoon. I used a disposable "adult" spoon and she had no problems eating from it! Can't wait to unpack the "real" baby spoons, bowls - and make a little cover/pad for her little bottom!

The Kitchen project

And more....

Our present living room. Ah - a basically "blank canvas" - that's the way I look at it - for the possibilities!
Next is the dining area... ya the light will someday be replaced but for now it functions and we can see our dinner.
Here is a little baby bird outside our bedroom window - a little sparrow. Mommy bird comes to feed it often.
And now - the kitchen in transition. The cupboards were that 80's style wood. I suppose we could have sanded them down and re-stained them but we decided to just go ahead and paint them an off-white. Rachel does as much painting as she can - as the children "allow".
Haven't covered the windows yet either.

For now we plan to paint the light fixture (the wood around it) to match the cupboards but eventually we'll update the lighting altogether in there.
Thanks for joining us on this journey! I'm sure you'll see much progress as our kitchen and house changes as the time goes by. Blessings!

More March pictures

Arielle wearing a nightgown that was my mothers when she was a baby!!

Arielle "Little house on the prairie" style.

Did I already show this one? Well if I did it deserves a second glance - the two of them together - it is so cute! Nathanael loves his little sister and she sure does love him too.
Arielle already likes to talk on the phone - not even six months old yet!
"It's for you"

Here are some pictures where you may notice the boxes and clutter from our recent move. It's a slow process cleaning out the counters, cupboards and drawers in order to put things away. We're doing the best we can considering that everyone's too busy or too far away to help. Day by day and box by box we are slowly settling in and making repairs to our little fixer-upper.
