Evie's First Thanksgiving!!!

I had a cute "Little Turkey" onsie for Evie to wear on Thanksgiving but wanted her outfit to reflect more femininity so I made her a matching headband and a jean ruffle skirt. The skirt turned out a bit big so it will go to her big sister Arielle and I'll make Evie a slightly smaller one. She smiled BIG for me to take a few pictures! Enjoy!

Play Kitchen

Last year I wanted to get the kids a play kitchen but alas it did not happen. So this year I looked into it again but the one we wanted was nearly $180! Then I found this and it also inspired me! (link: http://ana-white.com/2010/11/inspiring-play-kitchens-and-a-smaller-fridge.html )

But instead of two pieces we decided to design a one piece. Below is a picture of my plan sketch. Each piece is labeled. We went to a lumber store and purchased un-treated wood which they were kind enough to cut into the pieces we needed.


















A. (2) 1"x12"@22" - sides
B. (1) 1"x4"@28.5" - toe kick
C. (2) 1"x12"@13" - shelves
E. (1) 1"x12"@30.5" - countertop
F. (1) 1"x4"@30.5" - backsplash
G. (1) 1"x4"@28.5" - Front of piece
H. (1) 31"x20" for backing (can be cloth, wood, or omit altogether)
I. (1) 1"x12"x17 and 3/4" - to divide stove unit from sink (note: will have to notch top)
J. (2) 1"x2"x14" - stove door
K. (2) 1"x4"x10and3/4" - stove door
L. - hole for sink and use a bowl of some type for sink
M. faucet - can use real faucet or use a wooden "J" from craft store upside down or design one
N. Burners - I will use round wood pieces from craft store
O. Knobs for burners/oven
P. (1) 1"x12"x28.5"

Before we started sanding and all my husband Scott wanted to do a "run-through" and tack the whole thing together with little nails to make sure everything fit. Well - we ended up needing an extra couple pieces but it's because we forgot to have them cut. But here is what it looks like at the moment - before we take it apart, put it back together and sand and paint it and add all the details. I'm so excited! The kids even got to help - it's pretty much the only way we'll get it done - no use trying to hide it - at least this part of it! Plus the kids really enjoyed helping! We'll hide it once we get it painted and start adding the rest! I got material for the curtains. We have decided on YELLOW color from a non-toxic and zero VOC paint called "Mythic Paint" and I purchased two faucets (hot and cold) - I'll use one for us and one to make another kitchen - from ebay for pretty cheap.

Here are some pictures I caught the other day of Evie in a sweet sweater set my Grandmother made for Arielle. Such a sweet set and so glad I got to use it on another little girl!

She's finished!

We are celebrating Arielle's second birthday this weekend and I have finished her gift - a sweet dolly - just in time! It's soft and made of natural materials and great for her age. I made it just slightly bigger than the dolls she has now (Carter's "my first" baby dolls) and with just enough hair to play with a little and later I can add longer hair if she wants to braid. I made her a little dress with bloomers, matching shoes and hair clips that Arielle can put in her own hair if she wants.

















































I also made a doll baby carrier that matches my baby soft carrier. I let Arielle try it out with her Carter's baby doll today - then I made some adjustments and now it's finished.
















































Here is the dolly in only a diaper which I made from a cloth diaper.
























I also made a "baint" (blanket) for this dolly especially. I have also made a play diaper bag for Arielle which matches the one I made for myself.
